How to
connect
multiple
terminals
to a
Host in
a
multipoint
environment
|
Your
Problem:
You
have a
host
and a
multiple
terminals
in a
distant
location.
The
Host
operates
in a
multipoint
environment
(Master/Slave
configuration).
You
would
like to
connect
the
terminals
to the
Host
while
minimizing
the
number
of
ports
occupied
by the
Host.
Our
solution:
will
allow
you to
use
only
one
port at
the
Host,
while
the
Digital
Sharing
Device
connects
to the
multiple
terminals.
Information
is
broadcasted
to all
terminals
in
parallel.
The
terminals
contend
to
transmit
to the
Host by
activating
RTS/DCD
(&
dropping
it when
the
data
transmit
has
been
completed).
This
allows
each
terminal
to
transmit
its
data at
a time
over
the
shared
media.
This
method
minimizes
the
ports
occupied
by the
Host
only to
one. |
